Woori Financial Partners with Defense Ministry to Support Military Welfare with $30 Million

Woori Financial Group's Woori Financial Future Foundation signed a memorandum of understanding with the Defense Ministry on June 19, 2026, at the Ministry's headquarters in Yongsan, Seoul, to enhance welfare for military personnel and their families through the 'Our Hero' program.

Under the agreement, Woori Financial will provide a total of 3 billion won (approximately $30 million) over the next three years to support the recognition and welfare of military heroes.

Previously, from 2022 to 2025, the Woori Financial Future Foundation supported over 1,500 military personnel and their families through its 'Our Hero' program. This year, the foundation plans to expand its support to approximately 600 individuals annually.

The beneficiaries include families of service members who died in the line of duty, those facing financial difficulties due to injuries, and their families. The program will provide assistance for trauma treatment, living expenses, medical costs, and educational fees.

Im Jong-ryong, Chairman of Woori Financial, stated, "We will do our utmost to be a strong support system so that service members can focus on their duties without worry."

Additionally, Woori Financial honors the dedication of fallen and injured military personnel, police officers, and firefighters through the 'Our Hero' initiative.
