LG Electronics Launches AI-Enhanced Washing and Drying Machines with Largest Capacity in Korea

LG Electronics is accelerating its push into the premium appliance market with the launch of a new washing and drying machine that boasts the largest capacity in Korea. By integrating its core component technology with artificial intelligence (AI), the company aims to meet the demand for large-capacity laundry and enhance its subscription and care services for differentiation.

The company announced it will release the 'Tromm AI Object Collection Wash Tower' and 'Tromm AI Object Collection Wash Combo' this month, both featuring a washing and drying capacity of 25kg and 25kg/21kg, respectively. These products are designed to handle large items, such as winter bedding, in a single load.

The new models incorporate over 60 years of LG's expertise in motor and compressor technology. Notably, they are equipped with an AI DD motor that analyzes the fabric type, level of soiling, and load size to select the optimal washing motion from six options, improving washing and drying efficiency.

Energy efficiency has also been enhanced. Despite their large capacity, both models have received a top energy efficiency rating in Korea and feature an efficient operating system that reduces power consumption. The detergent drawer has been redesigned for convenience and a more premium feel, eliminating the handle and allowing for a push-to-open mechanism.

The Wash Combo has significantly expanded its AI-based convenience features. It includes 'AI Time Sensing,' which analyzes the load to provide an estimated time of completion within three seconds, and 'AI Time Guidance,' which learns usage patterns to predict drying times.

Drying performance has also improved. With a dual inverter heat pump and high-efficiency heat exchanger, the internal design has been optimized to increase drying capacity by 6kg compared to previous models. Using the quick wash and dry cycle, it can complete a load of 3kg in approximately 64 minutes, reducing the time by over 30% compared to earlier models.

In addition to product sales, LG Electronics is enhancing its subscription and care services. The newly introduced 'Direct High-Pressure Cleaning' service manages the interior and exterior of the drum with high-pressure water and UV light, including endoscopic inspections for hygiene management.

"We will continue to lead the combined washing and drying machine market with our differentiated AI features, including the core AI DD motor and the largest capacity in Korea," said Son Chang-woo, head of LG Electronics' Home Solutions Business Unit.
