In his address, Kim is expected to outline South Korea's vision and propose ways to strengthen international economic cooperation.
The AMNC, also known as the "Summer Davos" runs through Thursday under the theme "Innovating at Scale," with discussions focused on "how the world closes the gap between technological breakthrough and broad economic benefit."
Kim, who left for the northeastern Chinese city the previous day, is expected to meet with several high-ranking officials and other attendees, including the prime ministers of Bangladesh, Guinea, Kazakhstan, Mongolia and Montenegro during his visit there.
With more than 1,700 participants from over 90 countries attending this year's forum, Chinese Premier Li Qiang is also scheduled to deliver a keynote speech at the opening ceremony.
Although neither side has confirmed a meeting, Kim and Li could hold talks on the sidelines of the forum, providing an opportunity to discuss economic cooperation, supply chains and other key issues.
Separate from the original Davos, the annual global gathering of political leaders, business leaders and experts in the Alpine resort town of Davos, Switzerland, to discuss the future of the global economy, the Summer Davos forum focuses on entrepreneurship, innovation and emerging technologies, and is held alternately in the Chinese cities of Dalian and Tianjin.
Key topics at this year's forum, now in its 17th year, include artificial intelligence (AI), robotics and other advanced technologies, with special sessions set to explore trends such as personal AI agents and the growing use of humanoid robots in manufacturing amid shifting trade patterns, rising AI investment.
Executives and experts from major technology companies including battery maker CATL and semiconductor equipment manufacturer Naura Technology, are expected to share their insights on industry transformation, technological developments and future growth opportunities.
The forum comes amid growing rivalry between the U.S. and China, and ongoing shifts in global supply chains fueled by rising trade protectionism. China is expected to use the event to attract foreign investment and highlight its push to nurture advanced industries.
