The Democratic Party emphasized on June 23 that it plans to finalize its committee structure for the second half of the year within this week. It also warned that it may proceed with unilateral control of committees if an agreement with the People's Power Party fails.

During a meeting of the party's floor leadership, Han Byeong-do, the floor leader, stated, "The Democratic Party's principles for committee formation are firm." He added, "In the first half of the National Assembly, the People's Power Party held the economic-related committees but did not cooperate in processing livelihood bills. Since the launch of the Lee Jae-myung administration, they have wasted time with blind obstruction of state affairs."

Han further noted, "The achievements recognized by the public, such as the judgment of insurrection, recovery of livelihoods, and the passage of three laws on prosecutorial and judicial reform, were possible because the Democratic Party chaired the Legislation and Judiciary Committee."

He also stated, "We will no longer waste time on the Legislation and Judiciary Committee issue and will make a decision on whether to allocate committees based on the number of seats or for the Democratic Party to take full responsibility for all committees."

Cheon Jun-ho, the party's deputy floor leader, commented on the People's Power Party's objections to the committee structure, saying, "There was a consensus to complete the second half of the committee formation by the third week of June. To call it one-sided while ignoring the context is a distortion."

He added, "We cannot allow negligence in the National Assembly under the pretext of tradition. We must proceed according to the procedures and timelines set by the National Assembly Act."

Meanwhile, on the previous day, National Assembly Speaker Cho Jung-sik urged the floor leaders of both parties to submit the list of committee members for the second half by noon on June 24.
