The Climate Energy Environment Ministry and the Korea Electrical Industry Association announced that the 'Electrical Equipment Standards Workshop (SETIC) 2026' will be held from June 24 to 26 at the Hotel Nongshim in Dongnae-gu, Busan.
Now in its 24th year, the event aims to share government energy policy directions and trends in domestic and international electrical industry technologies while seeking to improve electrical equipment safety and enhance industrial competitiveness.
With the recent increase in power demand due to the expansion of artificial intelligence (AI) data centers and electric vehicles, the importance of ensuring the safety and reliability of electrical equipment has grown.
In response, the government and industry stakeholders are continuing discussions to revise electrical equipment standards and share the latest technological trends to adapt to the changing industrial environment.
On the first day of the event, approximately 600 attendees, including members of the National Assembly, government officials, and industry representatives, will participate in an awards ceremony honoring individuals who have contributed to the development of electrical equipment standards. Kim Chang-seop, chairman of the Electrical Commission, will deliver a keynote speech outlining the future and policy direction of the electrical industry.
From June 25, a two-day seminar on the Korean Electrical Equipment Code (KEC) will take place, focusing on 47 topics across 12 areas, including power facilities, renewable energy, and electrical safety.
An exhibition area at the venue will showcase the latest electrical equipment products and technologies, providing a platform for networking and business exchanges among participating companies.
Park Deok-yeol, director of hydrogen and thermal industry policy at the Climate Energy Environment Ministry, stated, "We will enhance the applicability of technical standards in the field to improve electrical equipment safety and strengthen industrial competitiveness in line with the growth rate of the electrical industry. We will also strive to support the industry through reasonable regulatory improvements."
