KT Cloud is set to significantly expand its cloud services for public institutions based on its self-developed cloud platform.

On June 29, KT Cloud announced the completion of its public cloud infrastructure utilizing its next-generation cloud platform, the KT Cloud Platform. This platform integrates virtual servers (VM) and containers within a single environment, designed using an OpenStack architecture based on Kubernetes, allowing for flexible resource deployment, scaling, and operational management.

With this new infrastructure, public institutions will be able to access a cloud environment that connects long-distance multi-regions (approximately 200 km from Seoul to Gyeongbuk) and nearby multi-availability zones (approximately 30 km from Yongsan to Mokdong) in a phased manner.

The company anticipates that this setup will enhance reliability, enabling continuous service even if a specific data center or system experiences a failure by utilizing other regions and availability zones.

Additionally, KT Cloud will provide infrastructure for generative AI applications. The platform supports everything from AI model training to inference, allowing for flexible scaling of computing resources based on usage changes. Public institutions will be able to develop and operate various AI services, including generative AI, within a cloud environment certified by CSAP.

Building on its experience with public cloud infrastructure, KT Cloud plans to expand its platform-based services into the private sector.

Kim Bong-kyun, CEO of KT Cloud, stated, "The establishment of the public cloud based on the KT Cloud Platform is a significant achievement that enhances the stability and scalability of public cloud infrastructure through our own technological capabilities. We will support the stable cloud transition and AI utilization for public institutions while expanding platform applications into the private market."
