Namuga, a 3D camera specialist, will exclusively supply obstacle recognition cameras for the Anafi USA series of drones manufactured by French company Parrot. This marks the first contract in the drone sector recognizing South Korea's optical technology amid a global shift in the defense drone market away from reliance on China.

On June 29, Namuga announced it will provide an initial batch of cameras for Parrot's flagship Anafi USA and its lightweight next-generation model. Each drone will be equipped with four cameras designed to support precise environmental recognition and obstacle avoidance while minimizing power consumption.

The Anafi USA is a high-end drone designed for emergency response and commercial use. It has received approval from the U.S. Department of Defense's Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) under its small drone verification program, Blue sUAS, and has been adopted as a tactical reconnaissance drone by the British Army and the European Defence Force (EDF).

A key factor behind this contract is the Blue sUAS certification requirements, which mandate the exclusion of Chinese components and software. Parrot selected Namuga as its sole supplier due to its in-house optical technology and production capabilities.

After several months of collaboration and testing, Namuga is ready to enter mass production and plans to begin deliveries in the second half of this year. Discussions are also underway regarding the integration of a 200-megapixel ultra-high-resolution camera for Parrot's next-generation model, with a target for final supply confirmation by the end of 2027.

A Namuga representative stated, "This achievement demonstrates our technological capabilities in the global security market. We are also accelerating supply negotiations with North American defense drone manufacturers currently in initial discussions."
