Boeing announced on July 1 that it has appointed Dr. Koo Ji-eun as the new head of the Boeing Korea Engineering Technology Center (BKETC).

Dr. Koo is an aerospace expert with nearly 20 years of experience in the field. She has served as the structural deputy chief engineer for the Boeing 777 and 777X programs, where she played a leadership role in product development, concept center, and stress analysis, overseeing aircraft integration, certification, new technology development, and support for operational aircraft.

Most recently, she led a cross-functional team supporting engineering integration, quality, and performance across major structures and global suppliers for the 787 program. Notably, she played a key role in the resumption of 787 deliveries in 2022.

In her new role, Dr. Koo will oversee the strategy and operations of BKETC, aiming to enhance domestic engineering and technological capabilities.

Michael Edwards, Boeing's Vice President of Global Technology, expressed confidence in Dr. Koo's leadership and extensive experience. "Her ability to lead complex engineering organizations, solve challenging technical problems, and build collaborations across diverse teams will be crucial for BKETC's growth to the next level," he said.

Dr. Koo stated, "I will focus on strengthening BKETC based on close collaboration, technical excellence, and reliable execution. I look forward to developing the center's foundation with the team in Korea and supporting Boeing's long-term goals."

BKETC serves as Boeing's engineering and innovation center in Korea. Through BKETC, Boeing aims to leverage Korea's digital innovation ecosystem to accelerate the acquisition of advanced technologies, strengthen research and development partnerships, and expedite technology development and transition.

The center is also pursuing expanded business opportunities in the Korean market. BKETC's key research areas include software engineering, artificial intelligence (AI), avionics, electronics and displays, data solutions, and digital engineering.
