BNK Financial Group Establishes $42 Million Productive Finance Strategy Fund Focused on Marine Industry

BNK Financial Group announced on July 1 that it has completed the establishment of a 500 billion won ($42 million) "BNK Productive Finance Strategy Fund" aimed at expanding investments in productive finance centered on strategic industries in the Southeast region.

The fund is a collaborative investment platform fully funded by BNK Busan Bank, BNK Gyeongnam Bank, BNK Capital, and BNK Venture Investment. It seeks to address the regional imbalance in venture investment ecosystems that are concentrated in the capital area. The Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam regions are experiencing a rapid increase in investment demand for startups and mid-sized companies, coinciding with a recovery in the shipbuilding and defense industries.

BNK Venture Investment, which has expertise and experience in regional investments, will manage the fund. Key investment targets include innovative companies with technological capabilities and growth potential in strategic industries such as shipbuilding and marine, aerospace, energy and chemicals, and defense and mobility.

The first investment area has been identified as the marine industry. The fund plans to prioritize investments in promising companies within the Southeast marine and fisheries sector that demonstrate growth potential and innovation, aiming to enhance the competitiveness of the local marine industry and establish successful cases of productive finance.

Since its establishment in November 2019, BNK Venture Investment has grown into a regional-focused investment firm, having invested a total of 111.8 billion won ($94 million) in 47 companies in the Busan-Ulsan-Gyeongnam area as of the end of 2025.
