LG Electronics is expanding its heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) business in Asia, enhancing its local B2B operations in response to rising demand driven by urbanization and industrial infrastructure development. The company aims to strengthen its non-hardware (N-HW) business competitiveness by training specialized personnel and broadening customer engagement.

On July 2, LG Electronics announced the opening of new HVAC academies in Taichung, Taiwan, and Singapore. These academies will provide comprehensive training covering HVAC design, product installation, and maintenance, while also serving as B2B hubs connecting local customers and partners.

Given the varying regulations, building environments, and energy efficiency standards across countries, securing localized technical capabilities is crucial for the HVAC business. LG Electronics is enhancing market responsiveness by offering product training and design and construction expertise to local engineers.

Currently, LG operates around 70 HVAC academies in over 40 countries, including Asia, Europe, North America, Latin America, and Africa. These academies provide training on a range of HVAC products, including residential and commercial heating and cooling systems, high-efficiency chillers, and liquid cooling solutions. Each year, they train more than 30,000 HVAC engineers.

The HVAC academies serve as platforms for expanding local B2B operations. They host technical forums for installation engineers and customer seminars, while also strengthening collaboration with consultants responsible for HVAC design in large buildings, thus playing a key role in building local networks. The academies feature exhibition spaces where visitors can experience key products such as system air conditioners and high-efficiency heat pump heating and cooling systems.

LG Electronics is also accelerating the global expansion of its HVAC academies. In May, it opened a new academy in Poznań, Poland, which includes classrooms, a showroom, and practical training spaces. The Poznań academy aims to enhance local B2B customer engagement through solution experiences and distribution-related training. LG operates the largest number of HVAC academies in Europe, including locations in Warsaw and Wrocław.

The company is also intensifying its efforts in emerging markets. LG is expanding its academies in regions referred to as the 'Global South,' including Abidjan, Ivory Coast, and Santiago, Chile, to capitalize on high-growth potential markets.

Additionally, LG is strengthening its partnerships. In April, the company hosted the 'LG HVAC Connect 2026' event, inviting key partners from 15 Asian countries, including the Philippines, Thailand, and Indonesia, to South Korea. The event was attended by over 70 local partners, who discussed technical exchanges and educational collaboration. These partners are essential collaborators responsible for the distribution and installation of LG HVAC products in their respective countries.

Lee Jae-sung, head of LG Electronics' ES Business Division, stated, "The global expansion of our HVAC academies will not only serve as B2B hubs in each region but also contribute to increasing non-hardware sales by enhancing the technical capabilities of local engineers."
