Genesis BBQ Group is accelerating its global expansion by opening its first store in India, the country with the largest population in the world.

BBQ has established a business foundation after signing a master franchise agreement with a local company. The company plans to expand its presence in southern cities, starting with Bengaluru, followed by Hyderabad, Chennai, and Vellore.

The first location in Bengaluru is situated in HSR Layout, a hub for IT and startups, attracting a young, affluent professional consumer base. The HSR Layout store is located in a mixed-use residential and commercial area adjacent to major IT districts. The second store in Koramangala is recognized as a key dining district, making it easier to gauge consumer reactions due to its concentration of global dining brands.

Both stores are designed as casual dining quick-service restaurants (QSR). The HSR Layout location spans 232 square meters with 90 seats, while the Koramangala store covers 172 square meters with 60 seats, targeting office workers and families.

The menu features popular chicken items such as Golden Fried and Secret Sauce, along with a variety of K-food options including burgers, tteokbokki, and kimchi fried rice.

The menu also reflects local consumer preferences. All chicken dishes are certified by JAKIM, a global halal certification body, and vegetarian options like vegetarian burgers and Golden Cauliflower are available to cater to India's significant vegetarian population.

India's dining market is rapidly growing, supported by its 1.4 billion population. With the rising popularity of Korean content among local youth, BBQ aims to establish itself through thorough localization and tailored menu offerings.

A BBQ representative stated, "India is one of the global markets with high growth potential. We plan to expand our global business based on a menu and operational strategy that reflects local food culture and consumer characteristics."

Currently, BBQ operates over 800 international locations across 57 countries.
