Opened in 1999, WUT is located at the Port of Tacoma and spans approximately 510,000 square meters (about 15.5 acres) with a 793-meter-long berth. The terminal features an on-dock rail capable of accommodating 26 rail cars simultaneously, facilitating inland logistics.
Currently, WUT operates eight berth cranes and six yard cranes. Under the new contract, two aging berth cranes will be replaced with new equipment, and two additional yard cranes will be introduced.
Once the equipment upgrades are completed, the terminal's capacity to accommodate large container ships is expected to increase, raising its annual throughput capacity from 590,000 TEU to 880,000 TEU.
HD Hyundai Samho will handle the design, manufacturing, transportation, installation, and commissioning of the cranes in a turnkey manner, with completion expected by 2028.
