Mattress brand Sealy announced the opening of Asia's largest production facility in Yeoju, Gyeonggi Province, on August 5.
The new factory, which expands and relocates the production facility that opened in November 2016 in Gyeonggi's Ganam-eup, serves as a base for domestic supply and exports to the Asian market, the company stated.
Sealy's U.S. parent company, the Somin Group, and its Asia-Pacific subsidiary, Sealy Australia, identified South Korea as a strategic manufacturing hub to support key markets in Asia.
The Yeoju factory spans 29,990 square meters (approximately 9,072 pyeong) with a production area of 15,183 square meters (4,593 pyeong), nearly double the size of the previous Ganam facility (7,920 square meters; 2,396 pyeong).
An integrated production system has been established to manage all processes from raw material handling to manufacturing, quality and safety inspections, and finished product management and shipping. Products for domestic supply as well as exports to major Asian markets, including China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Singapore, will be produced at this facility.
To enhance supply stability, Sealy Korea is also planning to build a spring manufacturing plant on adjacent land, aiming for completion in 2028. The company intends to improve production capacity, logistics efficiency, and quality control systems to strengthen the long-term growth foundation of its Korean operations.
