Trinity Airlines CEO: FSC and LCC Are Not the Answer, New Demand Through SSC

"We will break away from the business model divided between full-service carriers (FSC) and low-cost carriers (LCC) and grow with a new concept called Selective Service Carrier (SSC)."

Lee Sang-yoon, CEO of Trinity Airlines, introduced the SSC concept as part of the airline's new business strategy during the 'Trinity Airlines Brand Launch and Uniform Runway' event held on August 6 at the Sonofelice Convention Center in Seoul.

Lee emphasized, "We aim to become an airline that customers can trust and choose, combining safety, reliability, and personalized service with the safety of T'way Airlines and the hospitality expertise accumulated by Sonogroup." He added, "Brand value is completed through customer experience, and we will strive to be a trusted company that customers can always rely on, rather than one that offers extravagant services."

The SSC model is characterized by selectively providing core airline services tailored to routes and travel purposes. The focus is on maintaining reasonable fare levels for domestic and short-haul routes while enhancing service quality and fare competitiveness for long-haul routes to North America and Europe.

Trinity Airlines opened a premium check-in counter at Incheon International Airport in February and plans to gradually start operating airport lounges in the second half of this year. In-flight entertainment (IFE), internet (IFC), and meal services will be offered as optional premium services. The airline is also planning various programs linked to the Sonotrinity Group's infrastructure, including hotel, resort, and mileage services.

The management environment is challenging due to high oil prices and exchange rates exacerbated by the war in the Middle East. Lee addressed financial concerns, stating, "Expanding long-haul routes amid high oil prices and exchange rates has been difficult, but we secured liquidity through a capital increase from our major shareholder." He added, "We will proceed with rebranding gradually while maximizing the use of existing assets without compromising financial soundness."

Regarding new long-haul routes, he noted, "We are comprehensively reviewing the acquisition of traffic rights and demand," explaining that the recently acquired Budapest route is scheduled to launch next year.

Meanwhile, Trinity Airlines unveiled its new uniforms, featuring 'Trinity Gray' and 'Rose Gold' as the brand's signature colors, with an emphasis on enhanced functionality.

Seo Jun-hyuk, Chairman of Sonotrinity Group, remarked, "Please see this as a natural evolution that connects the value of service accumulated over 47 years to the skies. We will create a new identity with differentiated service value unique to Sonogroup while respecting T'way Airlines' operational expertise."
