KT is partnering with NH Financial Group and Microsoft to drive innovation in AI and cloud-based retail transformation.
On August 18, KT announced that it signed a memorandum of understanding with both companies at its headquarters in the Gwanghwamun area of Seoul.
This collaboration follows KT's transition of the NH Sing Sing Mall, a specialized online agricultural product platform, to a public cloud. KT migrated the mall's on-premises systems, infrastructure, network, and security environment to Microsoft Azure. The revamped NH Sing Sing Mall successfully launched customer services in July and is currently operating smoothly.
The three companies aim to expand their collaboration beyond cloud transition to enhance customer experience through AI. Their joint efforts will include identifying new AX business opportunities in retail and e-commerce, innovating customer service using AI, advancing data-driven marketing, and internalizing AI capabilities based on real-world applications.
In particular, they plan to establish personalized recommendation services and marketing systems using customer, product, and order data across NH Financial Group's key sectors, including retail and food. They will introduce agentic AI services that autonomously understand and handle customer inquiries, order confirmations, and delivery notifications, thereby improving customer convenience and operational efficiency.
KT will oversee the overall project, including identifying and designing AX initiatives and managing the AICC's construction and operation. NH Financial Group will provide a testing environment based on business status and real-world data, while Microsoft will support the implementation of global AI and cloud technologies and services, including Azure.
Park Sang-won, Executive Vice President of KT's AX Division, stated, "KT will leverage its experience in AX design, construction, and operation, along with its agentic AI capabilities, to discover new AX business models in the retail sector in collaboration with NH Financial Group and Microsoft."
Additionally, KT announced on August 12 its vision to double AX revenue by 2028, diversifying its telecommunications-focused business to re-emerge as an 'AX Platform Company.'
