LG Electronics is significantly enhancing its collaboration with NVIDIA in the robotics sector, a key area for future business. The two companies met just four days after signing a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to discuss actionable strategies.

On August 18, LG Electronics invited key figures, including Madison Huang, Senior Vice President of NVIDIA, to the LG Data Factory in Seocho-gu, Seoul, to discuss robotics collaboration and synergy creation strategies.

Attendees included LG Electronics President Ryu Jae-cheol, LG CNS President Hyun Shin-kyun, and LG Science Park CEO Jeong Soo-hun, all of whom reaffirmed their commitment to accelerating business.

Previously, on August 13, the two companies signed an MOU at NVIDIA's headquarters in Santa Clara, California, to collaborate on future strategic business initiatives. Their immediate reunion at the Yangjae Data Factory, which is currently under development, signals a push towards practical commercialization.

The Yangjae Data Factory spans 10,000 square meters (about 107,600 square feet) and serves as a base for collecting, verifying, and refining data for robot training. Currently, the facility is accumulating data in environments that simulate residential, manufacturing, and logistics settings using the 'LG Cloid' robot.

The high-quality manufacturing data collected by LG Electronics will be integrated with NVIDIA's Omniverse Library, Cosmos Open World Model, and Isaac Robotics Platform, transforming it into training data for robots.

By the end of this year, LG Electronics plans to combine the data it collects with virtually generated data to amass a total of 100,000 hours (approximately 12 years' worth) of training data. This initiative aims to enhance the 'Robot Foundation Model (RFM)' that determines robot performance. The number of robots deployed by the end of the year is also expected to increase to several hundred.

LG Electronics has designated this year as a pivotal moment for its robotics ambitions, having established a 'Robotics Business Center' directly under President Ryu last month. The company aims to become a 'total solution provider' in robotics by enhancing its hardware capabilities, from components to finished products, alongside large-scale data management.

President Ryu Jae-cheol emphasized, "We will secure our physical AI competitiveness based on the synergies of 'One LG' and strategic collaborations with global partners."
