The program targets LG ThinQ-connected washing machines, dryers, dishwashers, and stylers, including combo washer-dryers. Customers who use these appliances during designated hours will receive a cashback of 100 won for every kWh of electricity consumed, with a maximum refund of 300 won per hour.
The cashback applies during low electricity demand periods on weekends and holidays in spring and fall, specifically from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. This initiative encourages appliance use during times of increased renewable energy generation, such as solar power, to alleviate pressure on the electricity supply.
Utilizing appliance usage data to steer customers away from peak demand times could lay the groundwork for expanding home energy management services in the future.
Customers can participate by signing up for KEPCO's Smart Appliance Cashback Service and linking it through the LG ThinQ app. The cashback will be automatically deducted from their electricity bill.
