As domestic companies increase their hiring plans for the second half of the year, the hiring confirmation rate in the oil, chemical, and textile sectors has risen by more than 66 percentage points compared to last year.

On August 27, Incruit announced the outlook for the hiring market during the '24th Incruit Recruitment Briefing' held at Korea University's SK Future Hall in Anam-dong, Seoul.

An analysis of hiring plans from 600 domestic companies, including 74 large firms, 119 mid-sized companies, and 407 small businesses, revealed that 11 out of 17 sectors saw an increase in hiring confirmation rates compared to the second half of last year.

The sector with the largest increase in hiring confirmation rates was oil, chemical, and textile, which rose by 66.3 percentage points. This was followed by energy (27.3 percentage points) and clothing, footwear, and other manufacturing (23.0 percentage points). The normalization of crude oil supply and increased energy demand due to the growth of the artificial intelligence (AI) industry are believed to have influenced these trends.

By sector, the energy industry had the highest hiring confirmation rate at 90.9%. It was followed by oil, chemical, and textile (75.0%), finance and insurance (70.6%), clothing, footwear, and other manufacturing (63.6%), and information technology (IT), telecommunications, and gaming (60.6%).

In contrast, the transportation sector's hiring confirmation rate fell to 33.3%, a decrease of 26.7 percentage points from the previous year. The food and beverage sector also saw a decline of 10.6 percentage points, reaching only 35.1%. Both transportation and food services emerged as the sectors with the lowest hiring confirmation rates for new recruits this year.

Seo Mi-young, CEO of Incruit, stated, "The increase in energy demand and favorable conditions in the oil sector are significantly boosting the hiring confirmation rates across the manufacturing and industrial sectors, which will positively impact the overall hiring market in the second half of the year."

Meanwhile, the recruitment briefing, themed '2026 Desired Companies - Second Half Hiring Trends,' featured popular companies among job seekers, including SK Hynix, CJ Olive Young, Samsung Biologics, and Korea Electric Power Corporation, which shared their hiring plans.
