Medipost announced on September 2 that it has appointed Min Ho-sung, a former vice president of Samsung Biologics and an expert in biopharmaceutical research and development (R&D) and contract development and manufacturing (CDMO), as its new CEO.

The company plans to officially appoint Min as co-CEO following a temporary shareholders' meeting and board approval. This change will establish a co-CEO system with current CEO Oh Won-il.

Oh will oversee domestic operations, including the Cartistem, GMP Center, umbilical cord blood, health supplements, and SCT divisions. Min will manage the global business division, U.S. and Japan subsidiaries, and the CDMO affiliate OmniaBio, focusing on overseas business development and global clinical and commercialization strategies in North America, Europe, and China.

In addition to his role as co-CEO, Min will also serve as the chair of the board. Medipost aims to strengthen strategic ties between its executive management and board, establishing a responsible management system centered on the board and a long-term global growth strategy.

Min is a specialist in global biopharmaceutical R&D, business development, and CDMO, holding a bachelor's degree in molecular biology from UC Berkeley and a Ph.D. in molecular biology from UCLA.

He began his career at Amgen in the U.S. and has held positions as a senior researcher at Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology and as the head of Samsung Bioepis DS (raw materials). He later served as CEO of GenScript ProBio, a global biotechnology company, and as vice president of the CDMO Development Center at Samsung Biologics, accumulating over 20 years of experience in biopharmaceutical R&D and CDMO.

With this appointment, Medipost plans to accelerate the global market entry of its key pipeline, the knee osteoarthritis stem cell therapy Cartistem.

Min will lead the commercialization strategy following market entry in Japan and North America, while also expanding business operations into Europe and China as part of a long-term global strategy.
