According to the ministry on September 7, the Jeonse Fraud Victim Support Committee held three general meetings last month, reviewing a total of 1,798 cases and ultimately determining 658 as victims of jeonse fraud.
Of the approved 658 cases, 627 were new applications, including reapplications. The remaining 31 cases were appeals against previous decisions, which were confirmed to meet the criteria under Article 3 of the Jeonse Fraud Victim Support Act after additional review.
Among the remaining 1,140 cases, 626 did not meet the criteria and were rejected. Additionally, 239 cases were excluded from consideration as the victims were able to recover their full deposits through guarantee insurance or priority repayment. Of the appeals, 275 cases were also dismissed after failing to meet the criteria in the additional review.
To date, the total number of individuals recognized as victims of jeonse fraud stands at 40,936. The committee has made 1,225 decisions regarding requests for emergency measures and has provided a total of 77,805 supports related to housing, finance, and legal procedures to the recognized victims.
Individuals who have not been recognized as victims of jeonse fraud or have been denied can file an appeal under Article 15 of the Jeonse Fraud Victim Support Act. Even if an appeal is rejected, they can reapply if circumstances change in the future.
As of August 31, the LH has purchased a total of 10,718 homes affected by jeonse fraud, with an average monthly purchase rate of 716 homes this year.
The Ministry of Land and LH are working to expedite the purchase of affected homes through regular review meetings and a fast-track process. They plan to continue discussions with local courts and auction houses to support the housing stability of victims.
