GS Caltex is expanding its supply of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) by partnering with global express delivery company DHL Express.
On September 8, GS Caltex Vice President Kim Chang-soo and DHL Express CEO John Pearson, along with key representatives from both companies, signed a partnership agreement at GS Tower in Gangnam, Seoul, aimed at reducing carbon emissions through the use of SAF.
Under this agreement, GS Caltex will supply 2,000 tons of SAF, based on Neat SAF (100% SAF), to DHL Express for its domestic refueling operations over the next year.
The SAF supplied by GS Caltex is produced through a co-processing method and has received ISCC EU certification, complying with the European Union's renewable energy guidelines.
GS Caltex plans to continue expanding its SAF production and supply to airlines in response to market demand. To ensure a stable supply of SAF, the company will establish a dedicated production line for co-processing.
For commercial-scale SAF production, GS Caltex will also build dedicated pipelines connecting bio-feedstock tanks and refining processes, with plans to complete the co-processing production line by the end of this year.
A GS Caltex official stated, "With this SAF supply to DHL Express, we have taken a step forward in expanding our SAF customer base. We will continue to grow our biofuel business, including SAF, in line with market demand."
Last year, GS Caltex completed the construction of PT. ARC, a palm oil refining company, in collaboration with POSCO International to establish a palm value chain necessary for SAF production.
