Kim Min-seok Proposes Task Force for Prosecutorial Reform Amid Controversy

Kim Min-seok, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, announced on September 14 that he will establish a party-level task force to support the implementation of the newly proposed prosecution office structure by the Ministry of Justice, amid ongoing controversy.

During a Supreme Council meeting held at the Democratic Party's Gangwon provincial headquarters in Chuncheon, Kim stated, "We need to prevent any regression in prosecutorial reform and ensure the successful establishment of the prosecution office. It is essential to conduct focused oversight at the party level."

He also confirmed the expansion of the party's internal innovation committee from 10 to 12, finalizing it as 'Mega 12'. He explained, "The special committee we have been promoting for the past month was initially 'Mega 10', but with the addition of two more, it is now 'Mega 12'. The first committee is the Mega Growth Special Committee, which I will chair, with Lee Kwang-jae serving as the chief vice-chairman."

Kim highlighted the launch of the most significant committee, the 'Dignified Livelihood Committee', stating, "I will also chair this committee, with former National Assembly Speaker Woo Won-sik as the executive director. The Mega Growth and Dignified Livelihood committees will serve as the two main pillars for the upcoming transition in national governance."

In relation to Lee Chang-dong's receipt of the Jury Prize at the Venice International Film Festival, Kim emphasized the importance of investing in culture, including film, as a fundamental aspect of the Korean Wave in the era of artificial intelligence. He added, "Support for film and culture should be included among various national support initiatives, including future response organizations."
