MakinaRax announced that it has implemented its AI operating system (AI OS) 'Runway' into the Korean Joint Command and Control System (KJCCS) in collaboration with the Joint Chiefs of Staff. This application was demonstrated in a real military operational environment during the 2026 Ulchi Freedom Shield (UFS) exercise.

Through the 'Generative AI Application KJCCS Information Search and Operation Technology Demonstration' project, MakinaRax provided an AI infrastructure capable of developing and operating AI models and services within the KJCCS.

The KJCCS is a key command and control system that supports joint operations and operates on a closed network with higher security controls than the general administrative, supply, and personnel tasks handled by the defense network. This necessitates stricter technical and security requirements for the application of the latest IT technologies, including generative AI.

Based on AI OS 'Runway 2.0', MakinaRax provided a closed network AI development and operational environment, where the military operated its self-developed AI service 'GeDAI J'. Additionally, MakinaRax developed and implemented an AI function that allows users to search accumulated data within the KJCCS, enabling immediate source-based answers through natural language queries.

The AI infrastructure and services established were validated in a real military operational environment during the UFS exercise. The military utilized AI functions, including GeDAI J, in actual operational tasks, confirming the feasibility of operating generative AI even in a strict closed network environment.

The Runway-based operational environment established is expandable into a distributed AI operational structure that connects a large data center, mobile servers, and edge devices in the operational field. In addition to this pilot application in KJCCS, MakinaRax is continuing its technological collaboration to build optimized generative AI infrastructure for military systems, including the application of an AI assistant to support equipment operations at the Navy's 1st Fleet Command.

Yoon Seong-ho, CEO of MakinaRax, stated, "The battlefield network requires a high level of security and an independent operational environment, making it one of the most challenging areas for applying AI technology. This pilot application has laid the groundwork for operating military self-developed AI models within KJCCS and validated their applicability in a real military operational environment during the 2026 UFS exercise."
