Samsung Biologics announced on September 28 that it participated in the 2026 BioProcess International (BPI) conference, where it introduced its strategies for innovations in biopharmaceutical manufacturing processes.

BPI is an international event that shares the latest technologies across all areas of biopharmaceutical development, production, and analysis, and discusses partnerships. This year's event took place from September 22 to 25 in Boston, USA, attracting over 3,000 global bio experts from more than 250 companies.

Having participated in BPI for nine consecutive years since 2018, Samsung Biologics set up a dedicated booth this year to promote its comprehensive support capabilities for biopharmaceuticals, ranging from contract research (CRO) to contract development (CDO) and contract manufacturing (CMO). The booth featured wall graphics highlighting key competitive strengths, including Samsung Organoids, differentiated CDO capabilities, and multi-modality production.

Expert presentations and poster sessions showcasing Samsung Biologics' technological competitiveness were also held. On September 23, Lee Tae-hee, Executive Vice President of the Antibody Cell Line Development Team, presented on the topic 'From Complexity to Confidence.' He shared a case study demonstrating how a tailored process design based on integrated manufacturing and quality control (CMC) reduced development time from 13 months to 9.5 months while maintaining high quality.

Throughout the event, various process innovation achievements by Samsung Biologics were presented in poster sessions. Kim Young-hee, head of the Cell Line Development Group, introduced a strategy for controlling both the quality and efficacy of drugs from the early stages of cell line development, focusing on a simplified platform for complex molecules. Lee So-jung, head of the Cell Culture Process Development Group, unveiled a strategy using the S-Tensify™ platform to enhance cell culture density, doubling the titer while maintaining top-quality standards.

Additionally, Samsung Biologics participated in the concurrent 'International Conference on Cell and Gene Therapies' at BPI, presenting standards for accurately measuring the quality of advanced viral therapeutics. Garcia Abigail, head of the AAV Technology Group, shared a 'Full Capsid' analysis strategy to evaluate the proportion of therapeutic genes correctly included within adeno-associated viruses, providing concrete guidelines to maximize the efficacy and safety of gene therapies.

James Choi, Vice President of Sales Support at Samsung Biologics, stated, "We will continue to solidify our position in the global bio market with advanced technology and services."

Meanwhile, Samsung Biologics is on track to surpass an annual revenue of 5 trillion won for the first time, following a series of contracts with global pharmaceutical companies. This year, the number of contracts reported has increased to six, and the company is expected to continue its record-breaking performance through both new orders and expanded production volumes from existing clients.

Last year, Samsung Biologics recorded annual revenues of 4.557 trillion won and an operating profit of 2.0692 trillion won. According to IBK Investment & Securities, Samsung Biologics is projected to achieve consolidated annual revenues of 5.4709 trillion won and an operating profit of 2.4597 trillion won this year.
