LG CNS is targeting the artificial intelligence (AI) data center market with a modular infrastructure approach that utilizes prefabrication.
On September 29, LG CNS showcased its next-generation AI infrastructure capabilities at the Data Center World Asia 2026, the largest data center exhibition in Asia, held in Singapore.
During the event, LG CNS unveiled its Prefabricated Modular Data Center (PMDC) and AI Factory Full-Stack Service, marking its entry into the AI factory market.
The PMDC is designed with standardized modules for GPUs, servers, power, and cooling equipment, which are prefabricated and then installed on-site at the data center. LG CNS presented a scaled-down model of the PMDC at the exhibition.
Traditionally, data centers were built on-site with mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems and AI infrastructure added afterward. The PMDC minimizes on-site work by prefabricating key equipment, allowing for faster data center construction.
Another key feature is the flexibility to expand infrastructure based on AI computing demands. Additional modules can be added as needed to scale the AI infrastructure of the data center.
LG CNS has consolidated the AI infrastructure capabilities of its affiliated companies into the PMDC. It combines LG CNS's design, construction, and operation (DBO) expertise with LG Electronics' modular cooling infrastructure solutions and LG Energy Solution's battery solutions to provide the necessary infrastructure architecture for AI factory development.
Building on over 40 years of accumulated DBO expertise, LG CNS is also expanding its AI data center business. It is working on upgrading existing data center infrastructure in South Korea to transition to AI data centers.
