Hyundai Motor Group is set to utilize the national highway network to validate next-generation electric vehicle charging and physical AI technologies.

On September 30, Hyundai Motor Group announced that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Korea Expressway Corporation at its Yangjae headquarters to collaborate on research and demonstration of next-generation intelligent charging infrastructure and physical AI technology based on highways.

The agreement will leverage the established highway system across the country as a testing ground for both next-generation charging technology and physical AI technology.

Specifically, the collaboration will focus on: utilizing rest areas as hubs for new charging technologies through the 'Next-Generation Intelligent Charging Infrastructure Research at Highway Rest Areas'; supporting data accumulation in partnership with startups invested by Zero One for 'Physical AI-Based Highway Safety Maintenance Technology Research'; and jointly developing future road technologies based on Hyundai Motor Group's business experience and the research capabilities of the Korea Expressway Corporation.

Jung Ho-geun, Vice President of Hyundai Motor Group's Future Strategy Division, stated, "Robotics and mobility technologies must be validated in real-world settings to be fully realized. The national highway infrastructure provides an optimal platform for large-scale demonstrations of Hyundai Motor Group's charging technology as well as the physical AI technology from startups invested by Zero One."

Meanwhile, Hyundai Motor Group is expanding its demonstration base in the fields of electric vehicle charging and AI robotics.
