Over 650 seniors gathered to celebrate the 30th Senior Citizens' Day in Jindo.
On October 2, Jindo County hosted a commemorative event at the Jindo Senior Welfare Center and the Seogyeong Senior Welfare Center, expressing gratitude to seniors who have contributed to community development. Official records from the Jindo County Council confirm that commemorative events were held at both welfare centers on that day.
Approximately 500 attendees were from the Jindo Senior Welfare Center, while around 150 came from the Seogyeong Senior Welfare Center.
Among the attendees were Jindo County Mayor Lee Jae-gak, National Assembly member Park Ji-won, Jindo County Council Chair Kim Chun-hwa, and Integrated Special City Council member Lee Hyun-myung. Kim Chun-hwa's current position as chair of the Jindo County Council is also verified on the council's official website.
During the event, the mayor presented awards to individuals who have contributed to the improvement of elderly welfare in the region.
There were also celebratory performances and experience booths for seniors to enjoy, along with lunch provided for attendees, combining the commemorative event with welfare programs.
Jindo County aimed to make this event not just a simple ceremony but a moment to reflect on the hard work of seniors who have contributed to community development, while also raising awareness about elderly welfare in the community.
Mayor Lee Jae-gak expressed his deep gratitude to the seniors who have dedicated themselves to the community, stating, "We will implement more careful elderly welfare policies to ensure that seniors can enjoy a healthy and happy retirement."
Meanwhile, in celebration of Senior Citizens' Month, Jindo County plans to continue its own commemorative events across seven towns, starting in Gogu-myeon on the 21st and concluding in Jodo-myeon on November 6. The county aims to foster communication with local seniors through these events while continuously promoting welfare projects that support stable living and healthy aging.
