Yongmun High School in Seongbuk-gu, Seoul, celebrated its 80th anniversary on October 12. The school held a brief ceremony on that day and announced that the main event will take place on October 16 at 7 PM.

Founded on October 12, 1946, as Seongdo Middle School, Yongmun High School changed its name in 1970 after transitioning from Gangmun High School. The school has developed significantly since 1966 when Kim Moon-hee, chairperson of the Kim Moon-hee Imdang Scholarship Foundation, took over the institution, and her father, Kim Yong-joo, former chairman of Jeonnam Textile, became the chairman of Yongmun Academy.

Yongmun High School has produced notable alumni, including Woo Sang-ho, the first chief of staff to the Blue House under the Lee Jae-myung administration, and popular broadcaster Yoo Jae-suk, enhancing its reputation as a prestigious institution. Guided by the motto, "Be a partner, be true, be a winner," Yongmun High School plans to focus on nurturing future leaders in the AI era.

Principal Hwang Jin-ho, an alumnus from the 39th graduating class, stated, "The 80 years of Yongmun are a history built on the challenges and achievements of countless alumni, as well as the support from the school and the local community. We will continue the proud legacy of our predecessors and work together with the community to create a new future for the next 100 years."

Meanwhile, Yongmun High School is accelerating the establishment of a future education model by proactively introducing a converged curriculum based on its experience as a designated leading school for software (SW) and artificial intelligence (AI) by the Ministry of Education and the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education.
