The government is connecting five major domestic exhibitions in advanced industries, including electronics, semiconductors, and robotics, under the theme of artificial intelligence (AI). This initiative aims to invite over 130 overseas buyers for export consultations and to promote the AI transformation (AX) of domestic manufacturing as a global business platform.

The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy announced the launch of 'K Connect AI,' which integrates the Korea Electronics Show, Semiconductor Exhibition, Industrial AI Expo, Asia Machinery & Manufacturing Industry Exhibition, and RoboWorld under a common brand focused on 'Industrial AI.' This project aims to link technology, companies, and markets in the domestic advanced industry exhibitions.

The Korea Electronics Show will take place from October 13 to 16 at COEX in Seoul, followed by the Semiconductor Exhibition from October 14 to 16 at the same venue. The Industrial AI Expo and Asia Machinery & Manufacturing Industry Exhibition are scheduled for October 21 to 23 at KINTEX in Goyang, with RoboWorld set for November 4 to 7 at KINTEX.

The government plans to showcase the entire industrial AI ecosystem by connecting exhibitions that were previously operated separately under one brand, covering everything from semiconductor materials and components to electronic products, manufacturing processes, and industrial robots. The opening ceremony will be held on October 13, coinciding with the 21st Electronics & IT Day celebration.

On October 21, an international conference on manufacturing AI will also be held at KINTEX. The keynote session will feature Professor Raphaelo D'Andrea from ETH Zurich and Park Min-woo, CEO of Hyundai Motor Group, discussing strategies for expanding the manufacturing AI ecosystem. Representatives from global companies such as IBM, Qualcomm, and POSCO will participate to share case studies and collaboration strategies for AI implementation in industrial settings.

An export consultation meeting will be held, inviting over 130 overseas buyers. The consultations will aim to enhance outcomes by pre-recommending suitable domestic companies to foreign buyers using AI solutions.

The government is expanding AI transformation cooperation systems in individual manufacturing sectors, including shipbuilding and automotive. On October 12, a strategy meeting for the shipbuilding M.AX Alliance was held to promote the establishment of AI-operated shipyards and the spread of AI to small and medium-sized shipbuilding and equipment companies.

Meanwhile, during the opening ceremony and the Electronics & IT Day celebration, a total of 41 individuals will receive government awards. Kim Young-jae, chairman of Daedeok Electronics, will receive the Gold Tower Industrial Medal for his contributions to the localization of advanced semiconductor substrates and supply chain stability, while George Tae Jo, executive director of LG Innotek, will receive the Silver Tower Industrial Medal for his efforts in developing smartphone and automotive camera modules and semiconductor substrate businesses.

“Exhibitions are evolving beyond mere product displays and transactions to become business platforms that connect technology, companies, industries, and markets,” said Kang Gam-chan, director of the Trade and Investment Bureau at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy. “We will develop K Connect AI into a representative global exhibition for Korea.”
