In a large commercial facility in Incheon, a 59-year-old man, identified as A, went on a stabbing spree, injuring eight patrons. However, a courageous action by a young office worker helped prevent further injuries.

According to reports from Yonhap News and the Incheon Namdong Police Station, A, who has a history of attempted murder, began attacking random citizens with a knife at the C&C building in Guwol-dong, which houses a large supermarket and a cinema, around 1:40 p.m.

The key figure in subduing A was a young office worker named Shin. In a phone interview with Yonhap News, Shin recounted, "At first, I heard what sounded like children playing, but as I got closer, I realized it was screams of 'Help!' and 'Run!'"

At the time, Shin was on his way to watch a movie with his girlfriend at the CGV theater on the fourth floor. Upon hearing the screams, he approached the source and saw A wielding a knife.

A was ascending the escalator against the flow, heading toward the fourth floor. Initially, Shin considered fleeing after his girlfriend urged him to escape, but he quickly realized that many of the moviegoers were women and children.

Ultimately, Shin picked up a chair without a backrest and moved toward the escalator railing where A was approaching. As A reached the fourth floor, Shin threw the chair with all his strength, causing A to collapse and lose consciousness.

Shin then shouted for someone downstairs to hold A, and bystanders quickly subdued him with the chair until he was apprehended.

Shin later said, "I learned from the news that this man was attacking everyone he saw. If he had made it to the fourth floor, we might not have made it out safely."

Meanwhile, on the same day, eight patrons were injured when A went on his rampage. A woman in her twenties was transported to the hospital in cardiac arrest and underwent surgery; she is currently in the intensive care unit.

Seven other victims, aged 20 to 50, were treated at the hospital after being transported by emergency services. They are reported to be in stable condition.

Among the eight injured, six were women. Police stated that there were nine victims in total, including one person whose clothing was torn while being threatened by A.
