KT announced the launch of AI-dedicated lines that support bandwidth of up to 800 gigabits per second (Gbps) to meet the growing demand for large-scale data transmission driven by the expansion of artificial intelligence data centers (AIDC).
As the adoption of generative AI and increased investment in AI infrastructure rise, the need for high-speed, low-latency networks capable of processing and transmitting large datasets in real time has become critical.
With AIDCs being distributed nationwide, a reliable network for connecting and transmitting large volumes of data between data centers has emerged as a key infrastructure.
In response to the surging demand for AI data transmission, KT has expanded its existing dedicated line bandwidth from a maximum of 100Gbps to 400Gbps and 800Gbps with its new AI-dedicated line service.
Leveraging its extensive and stable fiber optic coverage of 840,000 kilometers and diversified routing, KT can design optimal shortest and dual paths between multiple data centers or hubs.
The AI-dedicated lines utilize an APN-based fiber-centric network structure to enhance low-latency characteristics. APN technology minimizes intermediate optical communication and electrical conversion during data transmission, reducing latency.
KT plans to expand the application of AI-dedicated lines to AIDC operators and companies building large-scale AI infrastructure. Additionally, the company will continue to enhance high-speed, low-latency network services tailored to business-to-business (B2B) customer environments.
Jeong Myung-jun, head of KT's Enterprise Service Division, stated, "As AIDCs and GPU infrastructure expand, the importance of high-speed, low-latency networks will only grow. KT aims to support customers in rapidly and flexibly building and expanding their large-scale AI transformation infrastructure through our AI-dedicated lines."
