OB Beer has continued its environmental conservation efforts in the Jeju community.

On October 14, OB Beer conducted a beach cleanup in the Seopjikoji area of Seogwipo City, Jeju, in collaboration with local residents, the company announced on the 15th.

The event saw participation from over 50 individuals, including Gu Ja-beom, Senior Vice President of OB Beer, employees from the Jeju sales office and factory, members of the Jeju Social Cooperative for Revitalizing Abandoned Houses, and residents of Sinyang-ri in Seongsan-eup. Participants collected marine and household waste for about two hours.

This campaign was conducted in partnership with the Jeju Social Cooperative for Revitalizing Abandoned Houses, the Seongsan-eup Village Cooperative, and the Sinyang-ri Village Council. This marks OB Beer’s second environmental cleanup activity in Jeju, following a plogging event at Suwolbong in Gosan-ri, Jeju City, in April of last year.

Seopjikoji is a representative coastal landscape in eastern Jeju and is currently managed as a general site of the UNESCO Global Geopark. As a company based in Jeju, OB Beer plans to continue expanding its efforts in environmental conservation and community collaboration.

Last month, OB Beer launched its first zero-sugar soju, 'Chalang,' at its Jeju factory. The product utilizes volcanic bedrock water and lava seawater salt from eastern Jeju, reflecting the region in its brand identity. This environmental conservation activity is seen as a step to strengthen the connection between its production base in Jeju and the local community following the launch of 'Chalang.'

Gu Ja-beom stated, "As a member of the local community based in Jeju, it is very meaningful to work with residents to protect Jeju's natural environment. We will continue to listen to the voices of the community and engage in activities that can make a tangible contribution to the Jeju region."
