Haenam County is organizing an event that allows residents to experience the culture of resource circulation, which emphasizes reusing discarded resources and adding new value.

The '4th Haenam County Resource Circulation Festa' will take place on October 21 at the multipurpose hall of the Cultural Arts Center and the community square.

This year's event is themed 'Beyond Promises to Action: A Plastic-Free Circular Economy.' It aims to showcase various easy-to-implement methods for resource circulation through experiences, exhibitions, and educational programs.

A ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. in the multipurpose hall, where awards will be presented to individuals who have contributed to the spread and practice of resource circulation culture, along with a performance to reinforce the commitment to resource circulation.

Prior to the ceremony, the Hwasan-myeon Flower Choir will perform, and an 'Anabada Fashion Show' featuring clothing made from recycled materials will be presented.

The Anabada Fashion Show will showcase garments transformed from potentially discarded clothing into new, stylish outfits. The program aims to convey the meaning of resource circulation in a friendly manner, going beyond merely reducing waste to reusing and repurposing materials.

The community square will host interactive experience, exhibition, and educational programs where residents can participate. A total of 18 booths will be available, along with an environmental quiz and an outdoor flea market, as well as a resource exchange event.

The resource exchange event is particularly noteworthy, allowing residents to bring in used batteries and milk cartons in exchange for new batteries, waste disposal bags, and toilet paper. On the day of the event, a '1+1' exchange system will be in place.

Residents who bring empty refillable containers can also participate in a refill experience for dish soap.

Participants in the event will earn 2,000 points for 'Carbon-Moa Tantan,' encouraging the integration of carbon-neutral and resource circulation practices into their daily lives.

Bae Mi-nyeo, head of the Resource Recycling Team at Haenam County, stated, "We hope this Resource Circulation Festa will serve as an opportunity for residents to start small practices in their daily lives without viewing resource circulation as a difficult task. We encourage everyone to show great interest and participate."

This year marks the fourth iteration of the Haenam County Resource Circulation Festa, which has shifted from a focus on ceremonial events to a variety of programs that encourage direct participation and experience from residents. Haenam County plans to promote a culture of resource circulation in daily life through waste exchanges, refill experiences, and flea markets.
