The cumulative export volume of Icheon rice, a representative agricultural product brand from Icheon, has reached 97.6 tons this year.

The city of Icheon (Mayor Seong Su-seok) announced on the 16th that this is the largest amount exported since the resumption of exports in 2022.

Icheon City and Hobuk Agricultural Cooperative shipped 10 tons of this year's new rice to Sydney, Australia, from the Hobuk Agricultural Cooperative's rice processing facility. This shipment marks the fourth export to Australia this year, following shipments in April, June, and July, and it is the first batch of this year's harvest to be introduced to the Australian market. The 10 tons are included in the cumulative export total of 97.6 tons.

In this shipment, a 20-foot refrigerated container was fully loaded. This indicates a transition from the trial shipment phase to an expansion phase. Previous trial sales at local stores in Sydney received a positive response and sold out quickly.

This year's export markets have expanded to include Osaka, Japan, in addition to the existing markets in the United States and Australia. The city anticipates further increases in annual export figures as additional requests for exports from North America, including the United States and Canada, continue to come in.

Mayor Seong Su-seok stated, "This is the fruit of the joint efforts of Icheon City, the agricultural cooperative, and farmers. Exporting 10 tons of this year's new rice to Australia is a significant achievement that enhances our competitiveness in overseas markets." He added, "We will work to expand existing markets like the U.S. and Australia while also exploring new markets such as Canada."
