Mercedes-Benz Korea is accelerating its entry into the domestic electrification market by applying its self-developed architecture to new battery electric vehicle (BEV) models. The company aims to set a new standard for premium electric vehicles.

On October 19, at the Mercedes-Benz Studio Seoul in Seongdong-gu, the company held a Korean premiere event to launch the all-new electric CLA and all-new electric GLC. Pre-orders for the models began in September and July, respectively, and sales officially started on this day.

The significance of the new CLA and GLC models lies in their use of Mercedes-Benz's next-generation vehicle architecture. The all-new electric CLA is developed on the modular architecture 'MMA,' which prioritizes electric vehicle design while also supporting a 48-volt mild hybrid internal combustion engine. This architecture serves as a common framework during the vehicle development process.

Additionally, the GLC features the dedicated architecture 'MB.EA' for mid-size segment electric vehicles for the first time. MB.EA is a newly created common platform designed to expand mid-size and larger BEVs across various models. The all-new electric GLC is the first pure electric model of the globally best-selling sports utility vehicle (SUV) GLC.

Shirin Emira, CEO of Mercedes-Benz Korea, stated, "This model encapsulates the next-generation electrification technology built on the brand value that Mercedes has established. We aim to provide a wide range of options that meet diverse customer lifestyles and demands during the electrification transition, while also setting a new standard in the premium electric vehicle market with exceptional efficiency, intelligent digital experiences, and advanced driving assistance technologies."

Both models are set to be delivered to customers starting in mid-November. The CLA has already surpassed 1,000 pre-orders, while the GLC has exceeded 2,500, garnering significant attention in the domestic market.
