Seodaemun District in Seoul has established a council to facilitate information sharing among local apartment complexes and enhance communication with residents.

On October 19, Seodaemun District announced the official launch of the 'Seodaemun Apartment Council' aimed at reducing information gaps among the 73 apartment complexes in the area and improving resident rights.

The council consists of representatives from mandatory management apartment complexes, allowing them to share operational experiences and discuss issues related to multi-family housing.

It is organized into four regional councils: Seodaemun 1 (Chunghyeon, Cheonyeon, Bukahyeon, Sinchon, Yeonhui-dong), Hongje (Hongje 1, 2, 3), Hong-eun (Hong-eun 1, 2), and Gajwa (Namgajwa 1, 2, Bukgajwa 1, 2).

Each regional council will be composed of the chairpersons of the mandatory management apartment complexes in that area and will have four officers: a president, a vice president, an auditor, and a secretary. The term is two years, with one possible re-election. The district council will consist of the officers from the regional councils.

The regional councils will hold quarterly meetings to discuss issues related to multi-family housing and share information among complexes. They will also communicate key district matters through meetings with the district mayor and seek solutions for complaints related to multi-family housing.

Additionally, a special policy advisor with experience in apartment management and public-private communication will be appointed to support coordination between resident opinions and district policies.

Previously, on October 15, the district held a temporary meeting at the main auditorium of the district office, attended by representatives of apartment complexes, to establish the council. During this meeting, the council's rules were approved, and officers for the regional and district councils were elected, with some positions to be filled later.

Park Woon-ki, the mayor of Seodaemun District, stated, "I expect the council to serve as a communication channel that gathers voices from the field and connects the district with residents, enhancing resident rights and fostering a thriving residential community."

Meanwhile, Seodaemun District is also building cooperative frameworks with relevant stakeholders in the process of promoting urban renewal projects. Earlier, on March 18, the district held an 'Administrative Cooperation Meeting for Urban Renewal Projects in Seodaemun District 2026' at the district conference room, attended by officials from 45 urban renewal project associations and committees, where they shared this year's regulatory improvements and discussed cooperation strategies during project implementation.
