Gyeryong Construction's triathlon team secured the overall championship at the National Sports Festival for the third consecutive year, winning gold medals in individual, team, and mixed relay events. Team captain Choi Gyu-seo crossed the finish line first in the men's individual event with a time of 1 hour, 55 minutes, and 59 seconds.
On October 19, Gyeryong Construction reported that the team represented Daejeon at the 107th National Sports Festival held in Jeju. In the men's individual event, Choi Gyu-seo ranked first among 48 competitors representing 17 cities and provinces nationwide. The team also claimed victory in the men's team event, combining the scores of Park Sang-min and Kwon Min-ho.
On October 18, in the mixed relay, athletes from Gyeryong Construction teamed up with Jeon Hye-rim and Park Ga-yeon from Daejeon City Hall to add another gold medal to their tally. Additionally, Jeon Tae-il, sponsored by Gyeryong Construction, won the men's individual event in the under-18 category on the same day.
Last year, at the 106th National Sports Festival, Gyeryong Construction also achieved overall victory, winning gold medals in the men's individual and team events as well as the mixed relay. At that time, Kwon Min-ho won the men's individual event with a time of 1 hour, 47 minutes, and 16 seconds, while Park Sang-min secured a silver medal.
Gyeryong Construction established its triathlon team in 2024 with the aim of promoting less popular sports and expanding the reach of triathlon. The team started with coach Shin Seong-geun and athletes Choi Gyu-seo, Park Chan-wook, Park Sang-min, and Kwon Min-ho, and it supports domestic and international training camps as well as rehabilitation and conditioning programs.
Choi Gyu-seo expressed gratitude, stating, "I thank the employees of Gyeryong Construction for helping us achieve this excellent result of winning all events and the overall championship for three consecutive years. I will do my best to repay this support with even better performances in the future."
A representative from Gyeryong Construction remarked, "Despite the challenges of competing in a less popular sport, the team has overcome limitations to achieve remarkable results. We will continue to provide unwavering support and attention to ensure our athletes can perform at their best."
