Suwon City, led by Mayor Lee Jae-jun, has initiated export consultations with ten local small manufacturing companies in Indonesia and Singapore.

According to the city on the 21st, the 'Suwon City Middle East Alternative Export Development Group' began operations on the 20th in Jakarta and will continue until the 23rd. This initiative aims to diversify export markets due to the increased trade risks in the Middle East amid the prolonged conflict between the U.S. and Iran. The participating companies were selected from a pool of applicants in May.

In the cosmetics sector, the companies include GlobeX (derma skincare), Athena IX (eye patches, skin packs, lifting ampoules), Ocko Global (cosmetic ingredients, aesthetics), and Chromah (peptide cosmetics).

In the medical and diagnostic fields, BrainTech (in vitro diagnostic devices), HNS BioLab (AI-based kidney disease diagnostic platform using urine biomarkers), and CuraGen (medical 3D dressing foam) are participating. Other companies include MacPhiTech (bidirectional laser measuring devices), Arong Eltech (telescope-integrated hats), and STC (injection molds).

The companies held consultations with 50 buyers in Jakarta on the 20th and visited their business sites. They will move to Singapore on the 22nd to meet another 50 buyers and visit their facilities on the 23rd.

This export development group is a project operated in collaboration with local specialized trade organizations. It allows companies to directly consult with buyers guaranteed by local cities, and prior to the consultations, the city provided companies with credit information, including buyers' financial status and trade data.

The city identified both countries as key hubs for trade with 2 billion Muslims. Among ASEAN countries, Singapore ranks first in import volume (approximately 638 trillion won), while Indonesia ranks third (approximately 319 trillion won).

A city official stated, "Through the operation of the Middle East alternative export development group, we will actively support the dissemination of excellent K-Hallyu products in the Muslim region and help local companies diversify their export markets."
