Gwachon City Corporation is collaborating with the Gapyeong County Facility Management Corporation to enhance regional coexistence and expand rural-urban exchanges.

According to the corporation on the 21st, a memorandum of understanding (MOU) was signed on the 15th with the Gapyeong County Facility Management Corporation to promote regional cooperation and activate rural-urban exchanges.

This agreement aims to expand exchanges with Gapyeong County, which has a sister city relationship with Gwachon, and to develop existing cooperation focused on purchasing agricultural and specialty products into participatory projects involving citizens and employees of the institutions.

The two organizations plan to promote the consumption of local agricultural and specialty products and encourage participation in hometown love donations, based on Gwachon City Corporation's 'Rural-Urban Coexistence 3Go Campaign.'

Under the agreement, the organizations will pursue initiatives including: promoting and enhancing consumption of local resources such as tourism, culture, and specialty products; expanding rural-urban exchanges involving citizens and employees; joint volunteer activities to assist farmers; and collaboration utilizing operational facilities and promotional channels.

Follow-up schedules for practical exchanges have also been established.

On the 27th, a rural-urban coexistence exchange event will be held, providing Gwachon citizens and employees with the opportunity to experience agricultural products and local resources from Gapyeong.

Additionally, in November, employees from both organizations will visit local farms in Gapyeong to engage in volunteer activities to assist farmers.

A corporation official stated, “This agreement will serve as a turning point for exchanges that go beyond agricultural product consumption to practical participation by citizens and employees. We will strive to revitalize the local economy and promote a sustainable rural-urban coexistence culture through inter-agency cooperation.”
