SEOUL, October 22 (AJP) - Hyundai Motor's completely revamped Tucson got off to a good start with over 15,000 contracts on the first day of release, the automaker said on Thursday.

The sport utility vehicle (SUV), which has undergone a full revamp for the first time in about six years, received 15,045 orders on its first day on sale, surpassing the previous version's first-day record of 10,842 orders when it went on sale in September 2020.

Hyundai attributed the strong initial sales to the SUV's bolder design, more spacious interior, and upgrades to driving performance, safety and other convenience features.

It also said the new lineup was designed to appeal to both budget-conscious buyers and those seeking more advanced functions, with many popular features available in the base trim and additional high-tech equipment offered in higher trims.

The top trim accounted for 44 percent of orders, followed by the base trim at 33 percent and the mid-level trim at 22 percent, while the hybrid version made up 55 percent of total orders, outpacing the gasoline-powered model.
