Travelers can savor ramen on a train and enjoy a ramen festival upon arrival. Ramen, a staple of Korean cuisine, is being transformed into a tourism product through rail travel.

Korea Railroad Tourism Networks announced on October 25 that it will operate a special tourism product called the 'Gumi Ramen Popup Train' in collaboration with Gumi City and the Gumi Cultural Foundation on November 7.

This initiative is part of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism's project to promote the 'K-Food Road Cultural Tourism Activation.' The aim is to connect the Gumi Ramen Festival with rail travel and local tourist attractions, expanding the scope of food tourism.

Onboard, various ramen-themed programs will take place. A mobile cart will sell Gumi ramen and snacks, while performances featuring accordion and yodeling, as well as instant photo opportunities, will be available. The travel time itself will be included as part of the tourism experience.

Upon arriving in Gumi, participants will explore the ramen festival and local attractions based on their itinerary. Options include visiting Dorisa Temple, the Geumo Mountain Reservoir, and Songjeong Food Street, or participating in mushroom picking experiences.

The product features five routes in total, with three departing from the metropolitan area and two from the southeastern region. Prices range from 29,000 to 44,000 won per person.

Song Kwang-seok, CEO of Korea Railroad Tourism Networks, stated, "We designed this product to allow travelers to experience rail travel alongside local food and tourism resources. We will continue to introduce rail tourism products linked with local areas in the future."

Additionally, Korea Railroad Tourism Networks is offering free coffee coupons to train travelers this month to celebrate the integration of Korea Railroad Tourism Development and Korea Railroad Networks. Starting at the end of this month, a 30% discount on parking fees at Korea Railroad parking lots will also be implemented for train travelers.

Details on schedules and reservation methods for each product can be found on the Korea Railroad Tourism Networks travel mall.
