Cold Morning Temperatures Expected with Rain in the Afternoon

On Thursday, October 29, chilly autumn weather will continue across most of the country. Morning temperatures in some inland areas are expected to drop below freezing, while rain is forecast to begin in the afternoon in the Seoul metropolitan area and other central regions.

According to the Korea Meteorological Administration on October 28, the morning low temperatures for October 29 are predicted to range from 0 to 9 degrees Celsius, with daytime highs between 13 and 19 degrees. In some inland areas of Gangwon Province and parts of Chungbuk and Gyeongbuk, morning temperatures will fall below zero. Winds are expected to be somewhat strong, making it feel even colder.

Frost and ice may form in various inland areas. Notably, the temperature difference between day and night is expected to reach 10 to 15 degrees, necessitating attention to health management.

The sky will generally be clear across the country but will become increasingly cloudy from the morning. Rain is expected to start in northern Gyeonggi and the mid-northern regions of Gangwon in the afternoon, spreading overnight to the rest of the Seoul metropolitan area, inland and mountainous areas of Gangwon, Chungcheong Province, western Jeonbuk, northern inland Gyeongbuk, and Jeju Island.

Expected rainfall amounts are 5 to 20 mm in Incheon, northern Gyeonggi, and the five western islands, and 5 to 10 mm in Seoul and southern Gyeonggi. From October 29 to 30, inland and mountainous areas of Gangwon and Chungbuk are expected to receive around 5 mm, while Daejeon, Sejong, Chungnam, Jeonbuk, Gwangju, Jeonnam, and Jeju Island may see 5 to 10 mm of rain. Rainfall in Daegu and Gyeongbuk is expected to be less than 5 mm.

In some areas along the central west coast, rain may be accompanied by strong winds, thunder, and lightning. Visibility may be reduced in rainy areas, and roads could become slippery, so caution is advised while driving.

Morning low temperatures by region are forecasted as follows: Seoul 5°C, Incheon 6°C, Suwon 4°C, Chuncheon 1°C, Gangneung 6°C, Cheongju 3°C, Daejeon 1°C, Jeonju 3°C, Gwangju 3°C, Daegu 3°C, Busan 8°C, Ulsan 5°C, and Jeju 12°C.

Daytime highs are expected to reach: Seoul 13°C, Incheon 14°C, Suwon 14°C, Chuncheon 13°C, Gangneung 18°C, Cheongju 15°C, Daejeon 15°C, Jeonju 15°C, Gwangju 15°C, Daegu 14°C, Busan 18°C, Ulsan 17°C, and Jeju 19°C.

The concentration of fine dust will remain at 'good' to 'moderate' levels across all regions.
