Samsung SDI on Oct. 29 posted in its preliminary earnings a third-quarter operating profit of 407.8 billion won ($304.4 million), up 100.1 percent from the previous quarter, driven by surging sales of energy storage systems and battery backup units for AI data centers. Revenue rose 20.9 percent from the second quarter to 4.69 trillion won.
The result reversed a 591.3 billion won loss a year earlier and was the battery maker's highest quarterly operating profit since the third quarter of 2023, when it earned 496 billion won. Operating profit for the first nine months reached 456 billion won, compared with a 1.42 trillion won loss in the same period of 2025.
