A new integrated counseling hotline has been launched to assist citizens struggling with debt issues, including overdue loans and communication bills. By calling '1375', individuals can receive guidance on debt adjustment, legal support, and welfare assistance.

The Financial Services Commission announced the opening of the debt counseling hotline 1375 on October 29. The number symbolizes the idea of 'healing (75) the daily struggles (13) caused by debt.' Counseling is available on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and call charges will be covered by the Credit Recovery Commission.

The hotline is aimed at individuals facing overdue debts or those concerned about potential arrears, as well as those contemplating personal rehabilitation or bankruptcy. Services provided through 1375 include credit and financial consulting, debt adjustment for financial obligations and utility bills, reporting and support for illegal lending victims, and information on comprehensive financial, employment, and welfare support systems.

If specialized counseling in other areas is needed, callers can be seamlessly connected to the relevant institutions without hanging up. The hotline collaborates with five organizations, including the Korea Financial Services Agency, the Financial Supervisory Service, the Korea Legal Aid Corporation, the Suicide Prevention Counseling Center, and the Health and Welfare Counseling Center.

Customers experiencing various crises related to living conditions, mental health, or finances will be referred to a dedicated in-depth counseling team. This team will comprehensively assess the customer's situation and provide solutions, connecting them to specialized institutions if necessary.

Lee Ok-yeon, Chairman of the Financial Services Commission, attended the opening ceremony at the Credit Recovery Commission call center in Yeongdeungpo, Seoul, where he encouraged staff and participated in direct consultations with customers.

"I will actively support the stable operation of 1375 so that citizens struggling with debt can lay the foundation for recovery," Lee said. Kim Eun-kyung, Chairperson of the Credit Recovery Commission, emphasized, "We will strengthen our role as a comprehensive support hub for debtors, ensuring that citizens have a reliable counseling resource during difficult times."
