Hyundai Engineering has opened a new Goodwill Store logistics center aimed at enhancing the efficiency of donation storage, sorting, and distribution in the metropolitan area while creating jobs for vulnerable groups, including individuals with disabilities and seniors.

On October 28, Hyundai Engineering and the Milal Welfare Foundation held an opening ceremony for the 'Goodwill Store Western Logistics Center' in the Siksa-dong area of Ilsandong-gu, Goyang City. The Goodwill Store is a vocational rehabilitation facility where workers with disabilities participate directly in the collection, sorting, processing, packaging, and sale of donated goods, thereby establishing job opportunities and a foundation for independence.

The Western Logistics Center consists of approximately 2,975 square meters of logistics space and a 330-square-meter outlet store. It will serve as a logistics hub for storing, sorting, and distributing donated items sold at Goodwill Stores in the metropolitan area.

The center's operations have created 13 new jobs, including 10 part-time workers linked to local senior clubs and 3 workers with disabilities. Hyundai Engineering plans to reinvest savings from reduced logistics and warehouse rental costs into opening new stores and expanding employment for vulnerable groups.

The center also features the first Goodwill Store outlet in the metropolitan area, which will sell discounted inventory items to increase product reuse and help cover some operational costs of the logistics center through its own sales.

Since supporting the opening of the Goodwill Store in Ilsan in 2020, Hyundai Engineering has also assisted in establishing locations in Tanhyeon in 2022 and Baekseok in 2024. A total of 41 individuals, including 25 with developmental disabilities, are employed across the three stores.

On the day of the opening ceremony, Hyundai Engineering employees donated 8,441 items of clothing and household goods collected during a donation campaign held from October 12 to 23.

A representative from Hyundai Engineering stated, 'The significance lies in establishing a logistics foundation that allows Goodwill Store to grow sustainably beyond individual store openings. We will continue to support the independence and sustainable lives of socially vulnerable groups.'
