A fire broke out at a tire shop in Galma-dong, Seo-gu, Daejeon.

According to Yonhap News on October 30, the fire was reported at 10:02 a.m. Fire authorities declared a first-stage response, mobilizing all personnel and equipment from the local fire station by 10:20 a.m., just 18 minutes after the initial report.

At the time of the incident, the tire shop was open for business, but employees had evacuated safely.

Authorities deployed 238 personnel and 98 pieces of equipment, including two helicopters, to combat the fire and assist with traffic control and resident evacuations.

The fire spread rapidly due to the presence of flammable materials, including tires stored inside the shop. It also ignited parts of a neighboring six-story building and some nearby homes.

According to the Daejeon Fire Department, there have been no reported injuries, aside from two individuals who left due to smoke inhalation.

Choi Young-hoon, head of the Daejeon Dunsan Fire Station's Disaster Response Division, stated during a press briefing around noon that the neighboring building, which also caught fire, deals in automotive parts and contained many flammable materials, contributing to the rapid spread of the flames. He added that there have been no reports of missing residents or those unaccounted for so far. After the fire is extinguished, further searches will be conducted to confirm any potential injuries.
