Hyosung Heavy Industries has partnered with Siemens to lead in next-generation digital power grid and AI data center solutions.

On October 30, Hyosung Heavy Industries announced that the two companies have signed a Global Strategic Partnership Agreement (GSPA).

This agreement aims for long-term collaboration in areas including digital asset management technology, digital substation solutions, and integrated power solutions for data centers. The partnership seeks to enhance global competitiveness by combining Hyosung's power equipment and engineering capabilities with Siemens' digitalization and energy management technologies for power infrastructure.

In the digital power infrastructure sector, the companies will establish an integrated diagnostic system that combines high-voltage and medium-to-low voltage equipment to prevent failures and improve operational efficiency. This will involve linking Hyosung's ARMOUR+ system, which predicts anomalies and lifespan of large power facilities using AI, with Siemens' Electrification X, which controls power flow in medium-to-low voltage distribution networks via the cloud.

The two companies plan to develop a digital platform that allows for real-time monitoring of equipment status across all voltage ranges to prevent power outages and manage load and control security in the future.

They will also collaborate on digital substations, which significantly reduce equipment space and increase automation, particularly in the rapidly evolving European and Middle Eastern markets. The partnership will integrate Hyosung's power measurement sensors with Siemens' digital signal conversion devices.

Additionally, they will work together to enhance operational efficiency in data centers by combining Hyosung's semiconductor transformer (SST) with Siemens' energy management system (EMS) for AI data center solutions.

Hyosung Heavy Industries CEO Woo Tae-hee stated, "By combining our core technologies, we aim to become a global total solution partner that encompasses not just power equipment supply but also the entire operation of digital power grids and AI data centers."

Jung Ha-jung, CEO of Siemens Korea, remarked, "By merging Hyosung's power infrastructure capabilities with Siemens' digital technologies, we will enhance customer value in the digital power infrastructure and data center sectors and create new growth opportunities together."

The signing ceremony was attended by key figures including Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Kim Jeong-kwan, State Secretary Stefan Rouhof of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, Hyosung Heavy Industries CEO Woo Tae-hee, and Siemens Korea CEO Jung Ha-jung.

Meanwhile, in response to the growing global demand for power equipment, Hyosung Heavy Industries has raised its annual order target from 8.4 trillion won to 12 trillion won this year.
