SEOUL, November 01 (AJP) - South Korea's cumulative exports surpassed $900 billion for the first time in the January-October period, driven by surging semiconductor shipments, government data showed Sunday.

Exports totaled $930 billion in the first 10 months of 2026, putting the country on track to reach the $1 trillion mark in November, according to the Ministry of Trade and Industry.

October exports jumped 93.7 percent from a year earlier to $115.28 billion, exceeding $110 billion for the second consecutive month following September's $121.1 billion.

Semiconductor exports soared 259.4 percent on-year to $56.44 billion, topping $50 billion for a second straight month and accounting for nearly half of the country's total outbound shipments.

Exports increased in 18 of the country's 20 major product categories and seven of its nine major overseas markets.

Shipments to China rose 133.6 percent to $26.98 billion, while exports to the United States surged 185.8 percent to $24.9 billion.

Imports climbed 36 percent to $72.78 billion in October, leaving a trade surplus of $42.5 billion, the second consecutive monthly surplus exceeding $40 billion.
