SEOUL, November 2 (AJP) - Air Premia has increased the space between economy-class seats as part of its efforts to give passengers more legroom on long-haul flights, the low-cost carrier said on Monday.

The carrier has deployed its HL8703 aircraft on flights since last weekend, with legroom increased to 33 inches from 31 inches.

The additional legroom reduced the aircraft's total seating capacity to 326 from 344, a loss of 18 seats, but Air Premia said economy-class fares would remain unchanged.

The latest upgrade is part of the airline's effort, which began in 2024, to provide more legroom in economy-class seats. The airline has completed the changes on eight of its nine aircraft and plans to upgrade the remaining plane by the first half of 2027.

Air Premia also modified the cabin interior by replacing the carpet with lighter materials to cut the aircraft's weight.

"On long-haul routes, passengers spend a lot of time onboard, so seat space and cabin comfort are key factors," an Air Premia spokesperson said.

The airline operates long-haul flights to major North American cities including Los Angeles, New York and San Francisco.
