The Ministry of Interior and Safety announced that it will jointly host the '2026 Bicycle Day' events with Jeju Province on November 7-8 at the Jeju Citizen Welfare Town Square and Gujwa Sports Park.

Bicycle Day has been celebrated annually since 2009 to promote carbon neutrality and raise awareness about bicycles as an eco-friendly mode of transportation.

This year's theme is 'Connecting the Future with Two Wheels, a Greener Jeju!' The events will include a bicycle parade and cycling along the Sunrise Coastal Road.

On the first day, November 7, a ceremony will be held at the Jeju Citizen Welfare Town Square, followed by a 'Bicycle Parade' covering a 6 km route around the venue. Various programs will also be offered, including bicycle safety education, a children's drawing contest, and a helmet decorating activity.

On November 8, the 'Jeju Cycling' event will take place, starting from Gujwa Sports Park and extending 52 km along the Sunrise Coastal Road to Seongsan-eup Songnanpo Port. This non-competitive event will allow participants to enjoy Jeju's beautiful coastal scenery, including Woljeongri, Sehwa, and Hado.

On the same day, the 'Kids Bike Championship' will be held at the Jeju Citizen Welfare Town Square, utilizing educational bicycles. The festival will conclude with the 'Singing Bicycle Song Festival,' featuring children who passed preliminary screenings.

The main events, including the bicycle parade and cycling tour, are open to everyone.

Jin Myung-ki, head of the Ministry of Interior and Safety's Local Innovation Division, stated, "Through this event, we hope many citizens will experience the eco-friendly value of bicycles and create meaningful memories with their families in Jeju."
